The role of marketers is rapidly evolving due to advancing technology and the increased pressure to drive revenue to meet business goals. This means a new type of professional—a modern professional with an adaptable and diverse skill set—is needed to build, manage and execute integrated marketing campaigns that produce measurable results. As a modern marketer, it’s important to embrace this evolution and understand what companies want from their creative employees.

Moving forward, companies are going to increasingly hire individuals who not only possess significant marketing experience, but also cross-functional talents. Previous accomplishments in process improvement, content creation, consumer behavior, statistics, business management and technology will be viewed as valuable assets when hiring and nurturing next-generation marketers. Web Developers

Jobs for web developers are projected to grow 27% over the next eight years. Unsurprisingly, this growth is consistent with the increasing demand for real-time, personalized mobile communications and the expansion of eCommerce. There are currently more than 82,000 web development professionals on LinkedIn, with over 12,000 of them joining the workforce in the last three years. Market Research Analysts and Data Analysts

Market research analyst jobs are projected to grow 19% through 2024. The use of data and market research is rapidly increasing, meaning companies can more accurately track campaigns, gauge ROI and better understand their target market’s behavior—but only if they have the right talent in place. There are over 296,000 data analyst professionals on LinkedIn and many are highly sought by recruiters.

Film and Video Editors

Consumers are creating and viewing online video in mind-blowing numbers, causing the projected job growth rate for video production to rise 18% over the same time period. With over one billion users (yes, billion with a “b”), hundreds of millions of hours are consumed on YouTube every day. Want another crazy stat? Facebook now sees eight billion average daily video views from 500 million users! Furthermore, 52% of marketing professionals worldwide name video as the type of content with the best ROI. If you have the mad skills to produce professional quality and emotional videos, then you better show them off!

Marketing Manager

Marketing manager jobs are projected to increase by 9%. Marketing managers have a variety of responsibilities, including overseeing all campaign activities and performance and managing many of their colleagues. They really are high-level “jacks of all trades.” And with so much competition and advertising noise in our recovering economy, talented marketing managers are hotly pursued. As we speak, there are nearly 200,000 marketing managers in the U.S., with over 2,000 having joined the workforce in the last three years. Public Relations Specialists

Public relations specialist jobs are projected to grow a relatively modest 6%. This role is especially important for companies in order to generate positive publicity, enhance their reputation and develop brand ambassadors. Candidates can expect high competition for jobs at established firms and slightly less competition for in-house corporate positions. There are more then 249,000 public relations specialists professionals on LinkedIn. Out of those people, over 29,000 are recent grads who’ve joined the workforce in the last three years.
